liked it

This felt like two different books, in a way. The first half was a humorous satire, and the second half was more of a sweet tragedy. It was a little jarring, how we jumped from one to the other. But I liked it well enough -- I think it helped that the style of the second half was more to my taste, and the ending was satisfying.

The version I read was free audio from The reader did a fine job, and I'm glad it was a volunteer with an English accent. I'm glad he did voices for the characters, which were generally good, though his American accent was a little annoying (but then, I think it was supposed to be -- it was an annoying character).
