it was ok
bookshelves: fantasy, mythology, science-fiction, young-adult

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate this book. It's pretty good actually, being written by a 15-year-old boy (adding another star because of that). Christopher Paolini's got talent, but it needs some more polishing. My main gripes go mostly to the derivatives and the author's lackluster style. There's nothing original nowadays, I get it, but in order to make up for that he needs some unique style and execution (I'd like to point some of Gaiman's works for example but it sounds really unfair so--drop it). Obviously Paolini is a fan of fantasy and science fiction because it seems like he picked some of his favorite parts from those works and he stitched them together to form his own tale.

I think this adventure book was okay; not really engrossing, not really bad. I stopped following this Inheritance series, but maybe I'll change my mind someday...pick up the second installment and see if Paolini's writing got better there. :)
