The four stories in this entertaining and darkly fun collection, though somewhat predictable at times, contains plenty of classic-King, descriptive nastiness and narrative honesty to make each of them memorable. The first of the four is the weakest of the bunch for me, mainly because the narrative voice at times seemed forced in attempting to capture an authenticity of a Mid-Western farmer, circa "1922". Overall, they continue to add to his body of work of stellar short stories to remind a "Constant Reader" why he has become a respected author, who continues to be fascinated with the theme of good versus evil in the everyday and Every- man/woman.
