it was amazing
bookshelves: rereads-in-waiting

How totally awesome is this anthology? Let me count the ways.

1) Zombies. Vs unicorns. Honestly, it had me at 'Zombies'. Way cool to see teen fiction about non-vampires and non-werewolves!

2) Great intro to some of the hottest teen authors writing at the moment - now I've got requests on more books by Libba Bray, Maureen Johnson, Naomi Novik and Alaya Dawn Johnson, for starters. So much to look forward to!

3) Holly Black and Justine Larbalestier's sniper fire before every story (each taking potshots at Team Zombie and Team Unicorn, respectively) is hilarious. I'd have to say that Team Zombie is innately cooler and unicorns are just really hard to defend.

4) The cover is purty, with cutout zombie and unicorn doing battle, although my copy has - no lie - a weird undeadlike blotching on the endpapers that makes me worry...

5) Standout story? Alaya Dawn Johnson's 'Love will tear us apart' is the best gay zombie romance I have ever read, hand on my heart.
