Rogue Island, by Bruce DeSilva, b-plus, Narrated by Jeff Woodman, downloaded from audible.com.

Liam Mulligan is a journalist who has grown up and spent his whole life in Providence, Rhode Island. He knows everyone that is anyone in town. Someone is burning down older buildings in the area where he grew up, and some of his friends are being killed in the process. Liam takes it upon himself to find out why the buildings are being burned down, who is behind buying up that land for a new development, and who is setting the fires. It’s a debut mystery, originally published as a short story 20 years ago. He received a nice note from Evan Hunter, AKA Ed McBain, suggesting that it would make a nice novel if he expanded it. Finally, he got around to writing the novel. Very good.
