** spoiler alert ** fun story... Turing is a Artificial Intelligence Personality... designed by Zach - as a data search engine, for a company for research, and with personality programed in, and self-improvment programs - and Zach uploaded all detective books for her to incorporate...and Turing becomes sentient - actively looking for ways to improve herself, to improve her services, etc. the story is fun - as we see the ways in which Turing works, how she thinks, and how she grows...

there is a conspiracy afoot - and Zach has run off because he is frightened... something with making it look like the AIP's are not profitable - selling them - altering them (taking out many of the features Zach programed them with), and selling their services back to the company... a lot of money for a few...

so Turing engages the aid of Maude (20 year secretary) who has come to know Turing, and Tim (copy room) who 'talks' with Turing but doesn't quite believe that she's a computer, not a real person...

and with the help of KingFischer (AIP specializing in chess - who is early days sensient & takes some of Zach's personality at the end - the 3 of them defeat the bad guys (though Zach dies in the process) and set up systems to keep control of the computers with them so that it can't happen again....

Tim starts his own PI firm, and Maude becomes secretary to the new VP of programming...
