I really enjoyed this novel and found it such a page-turner. I couldn't wait to find out what would happen. This was my choice for our book group and the reviews were mixed. One person found the child language difficult to grasp and it spoiled the story for her. Another found the mother character to be a victim. Personally, I thought she coped incredibly well and I thought she was inspiring.

A young woman is abducted and kept in a locked garden shed. She gives birth to a son who, at the age of 5, tells his story - this story. This book describes the daily routine the boy has with his mother and touches on the night-time visits by 'Old Nick' (the father and abductor). The boy is unaware of any life outside 'Room' until his mother decides he should know that the things he sees on the TV actually are real ...
