An interesting read. Volk does his best to maintain a unbiased view on the topics that he covers (from Ghosts to Lucid dreaming.) His desire to maintain neutrality is promulgated by the massive amounts of data, studies, and overall fact-based reporting. He missed the boat by dumping his stock in the neutrality approach. A lot of the chapters became verbose and unintelligible and lacking of any humanity. If he had focused less on bolstering his claim of neutrality and actually offered more anecdotal references or even more interesting stories the book would have fared much better. Instead one has to slog through his attempt to be unbiased and missed out on the actual fun of the book, the weird, kooky, and interesting topics.
