it was amazing
bookshelves: first-reads
Read from August 24 to September 15, 2011

Won this book off of First Reads, I entered because my 10 year old daughter was looking for something new to read. She put a lot of books down (never to be picked back up) because she was bored with them. She loved this book! She has to read every night for school, and she was trying to read the book every chance she got. She read aloud to me some nights and I really like the book as well. It has some lessons to be learned in this book, and the reader will come away with either having learned something new or just reminded of certain behaviors. When I asked my daughter what she liked best about the story, she said that she really enjoyed that both Aphrodite and Isis were fighting over who is the goddess of love and that in the end Aphrodite wound up giving half of the credit to Isis and they became really good friends. She really liked the part when Aphrodite and Isis first met Pygmalion, and when he shows them his art and makes little mini statues of them. My daughter highly recommends "Aphrodite the Diva" to all girls and hopes they will realize when they read this the importance of building relationships and not always trying to compete with your friends, because the outcome could become ugly. After reading this story my daughter now has a new found interest in Mythology. She loves the way the characters are described in this book and is now seeking out more Goddess Girls books to read!
