This one entry in a series featuring quotations by and about leading general officers in the North and South during the Civil War. The focus here? Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain. An academic become warrior.

This volume traces his words and quotations about him. For instance, a comment of his about his regiment's role at Little Round Top (during the Battle of Gettysburg): "The edge of the fight rolled backward and forward like a wave."

While a slight work, it is enjoyable.
