I really liked the story. It's actually a very interesting premise. While it is different than the movie, both are still good stories and keep to the general plot. I did listen to the audio, but I think that I'll finish out the series in print. I didn't really like the reader's voice and that can really make a difference.
Both of the main characters, Lina and Doon are very well developed and each have difference personality traits/thinking processes that make this story work well. The thing that does bother me is the fact that is could probably legitimately happen...the building of the city of Ember. The entire process and the way that the city actual functions is quiet interesting and the fact that things have to be re-used and used again is quiet insightful. The writing is wonderfully done and very descriptive, so it's easy to picture things and places. Can't wait to read the rest of the series now!
