Dr. Hanson provides another well-done book, looking at the long-term effects of chance events in battle, ranging from Socrates to Sherman. Well done book, again, Hanson relies on stories, easier for us to understand, as there probably are no statistics to give us any ideas like the ones Hanson talks about. Essentially he distills the essence of battle down to the single trait of randomness. And he makes a fantastic case.

(The thing about Socrates is particularly incredible, Western philosophy would have been radically altered by a tiny little battle)
