it was ok

It was just quite disappointing. As a fan of The Seven Realms series (while I still think two or three books might as well have done), I was expecting it to be better, but it felt predictable, annoying and forced. While I kind of liked Ash and Destin, I never cared too much for them -and I definitely didn't care for any of the other characters, either. They felt plain, boring and inconsistent.
I didn't like the villain -a king who is simply evil to the core, as well as stupid.
I didn't buy the love story -it just happened that suddenly they were so madly in love after five minutes.
I didn't like the supporting characters -all stupid, clichéd and once again boring.
Don't even get me started on (view spoiler) death.

I'll probably pick up the second book of the series just to see what happens to my characters from The Seven Realms series, but I'm not really interested in the main storyline of this new saga.
