F. Scott Fitzgerald in his intricately patterned novel, spectacularly draws an enigmatic millionaire and his idealistic passion for a beautiful, but insincere woman in an unprecedented flourishing era. Today happiness largely defined by the acquisition of material things, as epitomized by this timeless novel, The Great Gatsby continues to embody the American Dream.
The Great Gatsby displays Fitzgerald's personal attempt at articulating his colliding feelings towards the Roaring Twenties. In many ways, Fitzgerald like Nick Carraway found the Jazz Age sensuous and restlessly exciting, and like Gatsby, Fitzgerald idolizing the rich, observed how love untimely faced defeat. Exhibiting the moral decline, the novel deals with the impossibility of recapturing the past and the unquestionable practicality of our lives.
My senses were elegantly entranced by Fitzgerald's riveting prose. I sat contemplating the intricacy of his work which provided many hours of aesthetic pleasure.
“And so with the sunshine and the great bursts of leaves growing on the trees, just as things grow in fast movies, I had that familiar conviction that life was beginning over again with the summer.”

I was within and without, simultaneously enchanted and repelled by the inexhaustible variety of life.
“So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past.”

মুভিটা দেখেছিলাম। তেমন আহামরি ভালো লাগে নাই, অন্তত বইটার যত প্রশংসা শুনি সেই তুলনায় তো নাইই। বইটা পড়া লাগবে।

Alice wrote: "What a beautiful review! I'm tempted to do a re-read now :)"Thank you Alice. I was awed primarily by the gorgeous prose. That is why I need to read as well the book again.
Violet wrote: "The last page has to be one of the most breathtakingly beautiful in literature."The last page alone was worth 5 stars, Violet. Left me surrounded by an air of melancholy..

Florencia wrote: "Great review, Nishat! I also loved this book."Glad that you loved it, Florencia. Many thanks.
Beautiful review, Nishat. The language, life lessons, and societal backdrop are all alluring in this read, even as one thinks of how Fitzgerald captured 1920s America so beautifully. Add the love story, and it's hard to refrain from turning each page relentlessly. I'm glad you've reminded me of this book with this lovely review.
