really liked it

The problem I find with many dystopian / alternate reality books is that I just don't "buy" the premise enough to move on an take an interest in the rest of the story. So many of the situations seem so contrived and ask the reader to take waaaay too much on faith ("well, this unlikely thing happened, then this unlikely thing happened as well and..."). This book almost falls into that category but something took me through the uncanny valley of "WTF?" to the sunny uplands of caring about these characters and genuinely wanting to know more about their story. So well done Mr. Wendig, I have the rest of the series on my "to read" list. I did enjoy this, I think the characters were well fleshed out, the story is interesting and I can (just!) accept the premise. I look forward to reading the next instalment.
