it was amazing
bookshelves: race, literary-fiction, innovative-fiction

Okay, I'm cheating a little because though I own the book and am even looking at it as we speak (as I write), I haven't read it. However, I plan to, and more importantly, I just saw the play, the stage adaptation of the same name at The Hartford Stage. If any of you are anywhere near Hartford, you must get yourself over there to see it. The production is stunning: stirring, beautiful, intense, heartbreaking. The sets/staging, always a small miracle at the Hartford Stage, are alone worth it. 5 stars and more for this play! (it's up only thru 3/23/08).
