really liked it
bookshelves: middle-school-and-up
Read in January, 2007

I can very easily, and often do, confuse this book for Smoke and Mirrors. Short stories get jumbled in my head and don't typically sort themselves out neatly in their respective books. But I do remember, distinctly, "How to talk to girls at parties" which I think is the very picture of a young adolescent male.

My favorite was probably "Instructions" as there is a quote in that I enjoy re-using...

"When you reach the little house, the place your
journey started,
you will recognize it, although it will seem
much smaller than you remember.
Walk up the path, and through the garden gate
you never saw before but once.
And then go home. Or make a home.
And rest."
