did not like it

A quick read but with no substance.
Hotchner filled the pages with name-dropping, his hob-nobbing with Hemingway and Hemingway's supposed stories of how Hadley was the one who got away.
Throughout, this sounds like someone trying to cash in on the chance opportunity of having met Hemingway and spending time (which Hemingway seemed to pay the costs of) with him.
Lots of name dropping and no one able to say anything in their defence. Not a fan.

B the BookAddict Petra, he has written six books on Hemingway so clearly thinks he has a lot to say:)

He seems to be a movie star 'biographer' telling the goss on the likes of not only Hemingway but also Paul Newman, Doris Day and Sophia Loren.

Petra Ahhh......that explains it. Wish I'd known before I read it.

PattyMacDotComma I liked the review, but I agree with Bette - you need to check his bio. He's a well-known Hemingway friend of many years and also of Paul Newman in his 'food business'.

Papa Hemingway is probably his best-known book (and I found it a bit like you did, kind of name-dropping).
