really liked it

Keira Sinclair is unexpectedly kidnapped while travelling to meet her betrothed, Laird Thomas Chisholm on what was supposed to have been her wedding day. Her captor, Ian MacKay, seems like a hardened warrior, yet his gruff manner hints at an underlying gentleness that inspires Keira to trust him. Ian's heart, still bruised by the death of his wife eight years ago, longs for Keira while his mind tells him the fiery lass is a complication he cannot afford while still working as a Protector of Scotland, undertaking the most dangerous mission in secret service of King James. Yet he still feels honor-bound to protect the lass he so narrowly rescued from marriage to a traitor like Chisholm. Keira's mind is reeling. Did her father really intend for her to marry a traitor? Is her father a traitor himself? Should she trust Ian? Can Ian and Keira fight their growing attraction?

This historical romance has all the action and intrigue found in the best Highland novels. This fast-paced read has lots of drama and betrayal so typical of the time. I read this book in one sitting and am looking forward to the next installment in this series.
