liked it

This saga has been on my TO READ list for ages and I decided to undertake it during a recent vacation since it was such a long read. Can’t say it was a happy story, but knowing US history it was what I expected. Kunte Kinte aka Toby seemed to always be bemoaning his African roots and comparing his life as a US slave to how things would be if he was still in Africa. Actually enjoyed the chapters after Kizzy went to live with the Leas since the narrative was easier to follow. At least the author’s generation had success and education in their life so freedom cultivated prosperity. Liked Haley’s description of how he researched his genealogy and developed his the story.
