The Replacement Crush

Vivian spent the last part of her summer lying on the beach, kissing her long-time crush. It was wonderful—until he pretended like he didn’t know her on the first day of school. Broken-hearted, Vivian makes a list of potential replacement crushes, but she makes sure they’re not the type of guys that could break her heart again. In the meantime, fireworks start shooting off every time she’s around Dallas, the new boy in school. Since he could definitely break her heart, she isn’t going to entertain THAT idea at all…
The Replacement Crush is a cute read. Like most romances, it’s not going to change your life or shatter your world, but it’s a fun bit of escape. I especially loved that Vivian is a book blogger. She even shares her reviews of a few books in the story. I liked the slow buildup between Vivian and Dallas. While their attraction to each other is immediate, they don’t rush into a relationship. Granted, their slowpoke ways fit with Vivian’s mission to not fall for anyone again.
While it’s a cute story, it feels very similar to most other YA romances. It has a lot of the same things I’ve seen a hundred times before, so if you read a lot of YA, you might feel like you’ve already read this book. However, if you enjoy reading young adult romances, you’ll probably like this book. Recommended for ages 14+ due to some of the content.
Content: Cursing (including f-bombs), attempted rape, kissing, and innuendo.
