really liked it

In 1642, Lachlan Cameron is a man who has learned that women can’t be trusted. While in battle, he mistakes a maiden who is trying to help with one who kills. He feels honor bound to see the wounded lass to safety, but doesn’t know whether she’s a friend or a spy sent to destroy his clan. Maggie Murray ran away from a marriage to an abusive tyrant. When she meets Lachlan, she’s afraid to reveal her true identity. As she falls for Lachlan’s kindness, will she reveal the truth or get sidetracked by lies meant to deceive.
This is a good historical romance for anyone who loves high-spirited, intelligent women and the clansmen who love them. The action and suspense made me want to see what happened next, and I stayed up late to find out. However, the sexual scenes seemed awkwardly written and didn’t fit into the story. I want to read more from this author because I believe this will be a successful series. An Advanced Reading Copy was received in exchange for an honest review.
