I had never actually read this story as a kid and then Maggie chose it for one of our listening books this summer. The parents in the story are significantly meaner and ruder in the book than in the movie and I briefly questioned if the story was appropriate for a 6 year old. however, we both enjoyed the story a lot. as it was an audio book, I also really enjoyed the narration by Kate Winslet of all people.
