I decided to re-read this book because my sister-in-law was re-reading it. I had read it in the early 70s and enjoyed it. The book follows a young man returning from WWI. After being injured, he finds "recovery" and "sanctuary" as a teacher in an English boys' boarding school. He goes on to become the headmaster. The author makes you feel that you are right there at the school. The book is an enjoyable romp through the English countryside where you feel that you know all the boys and their teachers -- the kind of characters you miss when you finish the book.
