God Is Not Great: How Religion Poisons Everything

If one is already a card-carrying Atheist, the arguments against the faith-and-belief in a god are familiar, but well presented. But if one is a questioning believer, Hitchins is a fine Virgil to giude you through the hell that is organized religion, revealing many of its inadequacies (creationism, biblical ethics, racism, sexism, child abuse, animal abuse, anti-science) and offering secular humanism as a viable alternative.
My only criticism is of the audiobook version, in which the author narrated. Surprisingly, Mr. Hitchins was a horrible audiobook narrator. Warning to your ears: he fluctuates his intonations wildly within a spoken sentence, starting with an ear-splitting explosion of words, reaching a normal decibel in the middle, then trailing off into a saliva drenched mumbling spittle whisper at the end; because of this one must blast the volume to hear the end of the sentences or risk not hearing what are usually the most important parts of the sentences. Because of this I am now deaf. Thank you, Mr. Hitchins. Regardless, he will be missed.

I do not know what a GREAT GOD is because there is no evidence for one, nor has one revealed itself yet, and there is no need for one in the universe. Only mankind in desperation, or struggling for power, needs one.
May Nature bless you with health.
