A great big thank-you to Goodreads giveaway! I really enjoyed this book. For as long as I can remember I have wanted to travel back in time to see how peopled lived. Since that's a dream that will most likely never come true, I try to get my time travel fix through books. This little gem certainly came through for me in that respect. The story line grabbed me and I became totally immersed. Lesley Livingston has her main character traveling back in time to one of the most intriguing periods of European history (in my opinion at least) and she writes it so well that I felt swept up by the magic of it all. I really liked the main character and her supporting cast and aside from all the time travel, the story was very good. However, it lost a star because I thought the climax was a bit over the top and overdone. It kind of annoyed me and just didn't seem to fit with the rest of the story. Sorry. Despite this, it's a book worth reading.
