This book was the second in a series and I have to say that as much as I loved the first one, this one was equally engaging. Between Kane, the hero of the first book, The Mating and Ryne, his half brother and hero of The Keeping I'm not sure which one I would choose. The Keeping refers to a Lycan law that states that anyone who can potentially expose their secret must be dealt with. The consequences to the pack of not being able to stop the threat are high. This is the gist of Ryne's dilemma with regard to Melody who may unknowingly have put the pack in danger. A photograph taken of Kane in his wolf form by his brother Ryne ends up being sold to a collector against Ryne's wishes in the first book and this act sets things in motion in The Keeping.

Not everyone is who they seem and while some of it was easy to pick up, the author threw a curve ball at the end which I definitely did not see coming. This is also the catalyst for the next book in the series which I have just begun.

I highly recommend this series. It is hard to put down and the characters are very three-dimensional. Good plot and likable characters and plenty of action.
