really liked it

This book is so tightly-plotted, compared to some of the later ones. And I completely forgot vast bits of info that the author threw in that ended up being so important in later books!

I remember reading this the first time and being disappointed that the court intrigue happened with no clear winner, or rather no clear POV winner. I still stand by that (what can I say, I love court intrigue and spying and all sorts of one-upmanship!), but I do love most of the POV characters introduced in this book, especially seeing where they go (or, in some cases where they don't go *coughcough*Ned I'm looking at you*coughcough*).

And poor Ned D: Reading all of his scenes was so great and yet so terrible because I could see exactly where he was going. Sob.
