I love Walter Dean Myers and am always drawn to his books. This one is about an African-American teenager, Reese, who is locked in a correctional facility. The book has many great themes and provides great lessons for teens. At times, I found it to be a bit too didactic, but as a teacher, I enjoyed the lessons Reese was learning. This is not my favorite of Myers' books, but I did enjoy reading it.
