OH MY GOD

this is definitely turning out to be a much better series than the first half of book one makes it seem.

I knew going into this that it was everyone's favorite in the series and I CAN SEE WHY!!!! I just love books that explore angsty relationships with slow-burning romance and I KNEEWWWW that laurent had a deeper layer that we didn't get to see in book one. These two characters are just developed so exquisitely that I could not put this book down. They seem like real people they're so troubled and SMART oh my god they're so smart and their conversations just punch me through the chest with all the wit and experience and it's just so ruthlessly entertaining to read. I almost want to take .5 stars off of my rating just purely because of the fact that the battle scenes in this book got a little bit blurred. It needed to be better explained where they were going, why they took the stops they did, who was friend, who was enemy, etc. There were a lot of invasions and alliances and betrayals in this book and I was left confused as to who was who, and going into book three I think it will be easier to understand, but still, what with the Vaskians and Patrans getting involved, I was like whhaaaaaattt

Alexandra Robertson I was so unsure of this series with book 1 but I have never regretted pushing through to the rest of the series. It is so addicting. Best series I have read in a long time.
