Roger is one of my favorite Outlander characters--the rest of you can have Jamie, I'll take Roger. So I decided to read this because it was short and and it was about Roger's parents, whose stories have come out in the main Outlander books, but why not read more?

It took me a little while to get into it, despite this being such a short story, but once it was in the meat of it, I really liked it. Jerry and Marjorie came across fairly clearly as characters--and their ends were even more bittersweet than Roger let on in An Echo in the Bone. The end was great, but overall, I like the story but I didn't love it.
