really liked it

If you are familiar with the Chester Miracle Plays or other biblical plays from the medieval period, you will find this re-telling of the story of Jonah thoroughly delightful. If you are not, then strap yourself in because you are in for a journey into the medieval mind and how Bible stories were taught when the bulk of the population was illiterate. The stories were an effort to disseminate the stories of the Bible in the form of entertainment and had quite a following for a long time.

I deducted one star because the language, while true to the period, is somewhat difficult for the modern mind to comprehend. That, however, speaks to the authenticity the author builds into his rendering of both the story and the play form.

This book and its companion were gifted to me by the author in exchange for an honest review.
