Our family listened to this book on CD while on vacation, and it was a delight. It's typical Roald Dahl fare--dark and quirky humor--and we loved it. (The kids had seen the movie, but the book is so much better. Isn't that almost always the case?) I loved the message about the gift of reading and how that empowers us, no matter what our age or circumstances.

Since we listened to this one, I must mention how great the reader, Joely Richardson, was. She made this book even more enjoyable than it might have been with a more bland reader.
