really liked it
bookshelves: fantasy, young-adult, short-stories

A short and entertaining short story and I really liked the format of it. The "let readers choose the character's next action" was really fun. This story basically takes place after Yelena has left Ixia to learn to control her magic, however Valek learns an assassin has plans to carry out Yelena's execution order. I loved seeing Valek's POV and although the overall outcome of the story was predictable, I still enjoyed reading this. It's really accessible and although I don't think it's necessary to understand the overall story of this series, I enjoyed seeing more of Valek and his thought processes. There isn't a very complex storyline so there wasn't much development so obstacles were overcome quite quickly. Loved the ending too!
