Of Beverly Lewis' books, this is the finale of her Hickory Hollow series that focuses on Tessie Ann, the last daughter to be married. Her frustration over her father's harsh denial of allowing her to be betrothed to her long time love creates a year of secrets, heartbreak and worry.

Tessie Ann's situation does seem to be more drawn out in the book than it needs to be, and when a solution arises, it quickly resolves the issue to a happy ending. However, it would have been more intriguing to have less of this angst and to read more of a solution with real twists and turns because of Tessie Ann's choices, before it came to it's conclusion. The author also weaves in situations with the older sister, Mandy. This was surely planned in order to give all the Hickory Hollow characters a satisfied ending.

Regardless, it is another sweet tale of forgiveness and grace, and how having patience to wait on God's perfect plan is best. Reading about Tessie Ann's choices does reveal that God can "do all things", regardless of actions outside of His Will.
