it was ok

I really, really wanted to LOVE this book. I had heard about it on NPR and ordered it immediately.

It took me three months to read it.

Maybe it was because I couldn't identify with the main character, only referred to as Little One, New Girl, Fluff, and Baby Monster until over halfway through the book. (On page 116 we find her name is actually Tess.)

I did start to read a bit quicker after I had a name. Obviously, it became easier to identify with her, but I still wanted to yell, "Move on...."

Tess needed to reevaluate a number of different life choices. By the end of the book, I think she is well on her way.

Ultimately, I do think that Sweetbitter is very well written. I just had some issues with the naivete of the main character.
