did not like it
bookshelves: 20th-century, americana, fiction, detective

Probably would have loved these when I was about 18 and might have thought they were deep. Could have been a follow-up to 'The Stranger' in high school. Now, though, they seem yawningly self-absorbed, and the absence of a conclusion feels more like a literary trick. All words, no substance. A waste of a couple of weeks.
