did not like it
bookshelves: fantasy

The book was just OK. The story line was very confusing at times, plots didn't always seem to add up the way characters said they would. The characters were often very one dimensional, they were one thing and extreme about it. There was more gore and sexiness than I like, and it seemed to be handled strangely, almost like the author was shoving it in the reader's face. There also isn't much physical character description, which the author tries to make up for my having some terrible CG art images at the beginning of the book.... Frankly I would have preferred to read about them and then picture the characters myself. Phillip Jones is a first time author and it shows. Hopefully his characters show a bit more depth later in the series and the plot solidifies in to a more cohesive element.

Chuck Carothers The author has grown in many ways with a great team around him and his new release, Ascendants of Ancients Soveriegn, is the best one yet. The book is for all ages and a great story. I think you will enjoy it!
