I am not sure what to say about this book.
First pages are interesting. I am drawn by the Demon character who's assigned to assist Saloninus, the great philosopher (and also an exceptional trickster), who have just sold his soul to the Devil for an extension of 20 years lifetime. This Demon is the kind of character I like in this kind of story: confident, cool, and acting that he does not care at all of what happened with others, but actually has a heart. But then, he became uncertain and less confident, wondering whether Saloninus has tricked him. I became uncertain along with him, since I don't know what Saloninus has planned.

Well, the book was written from the alternating point of view of the Demon and Saloninus, without warning and clear clue of who is talking in his mind right now. I should have known what Saloninus wanted, right? No, I didn't. I feel uncomfortable. I feel cheated. Read and see for yourself. Maybe it is a good book because of that. But maybe I root too much for the Demon and I am just too unhappy; I ended up giving it a 3-star rating.
