really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, dystopian-society, classic

2011- 2 stars - If you read "Fahrenheit 451", remember that it was written in 1953, and with that perspective, you might be amazed at Bradbury's prophecies concerning technology. It was an interesting story, but so heavy on philosophy, and so extremely tedious, that I really struggled just to finish reading it.

2018- 4 stars- I just reread this for book club and I got so much more out of it than I did the first time, so I'm increasing the rating. The last 20 pages still felt like a chore, but I think I related so much more to the theme this time through. Maybe the introduction by Neil Gaiman gave me a little extra insight into Bradbury's motives and the "what if" element he was building his story around, maybe it's becoming more relevant to our social media lifestyles, maybe I'm just older? Either way, I definitely liked it a lot better this time!!
