Wow, the first half of this book is a stunner, telling of how the quants phenomenon began with Ed Thorpe (see the movie "21" starring Kevin Spacey) at MIT, Vegas, and then the tech boom that enabled them all to create the complex equations to exploit and ultimately nearly destroy the global economy and stock market.

The last half of the book becomes too bogged down with detail about the actual products the quants created, so skim to the near end to see where they all wound up. I know, short attention span, but this book is GREAT. Loved it.
