Told through diamond-shaped poems--each of which also contains a "secret" message of selected bolded words--I had never read anything quite like this format, which I thought was really unique and cool. I also thought the idea of the narrative additionally being told by Willow's ancestors was pretty neat. The story was unexpectedly sad at the end though, with the full story of Diamond Willow being revealed, but was overall a sweet story. Great for anyone who loves dogs (and who doesn't?) and/or harbors dreams of living in Alaska (again, who doesn't?).
