I thought the descriptions of the Alaskan wilderness somewhat overdone. In my opinion they were out of proportion to the plot and made the story plod a little. I did enjoy the story, although I never did get a sense of who Kate was or why she was sought out for this mission. Mutt, on the other hand, was great and helped make the story.
