it was amazing
bookshelves: adventure, funny, non-fiction, travel, hiking

Bill Bryson is funny, clever, brilliant, and wonderfully entertaining. This is his chronicle of his year long attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail. This is part travelogue, part environmental and political commentary, and part comic musings. Interspersed with his descriptions of the hike itself, the reader meets a wide variety of fellow hikers and learns a great deal about the history, geology, and geography of the Appalachian Trail. Bryson's prose is very readable. I shared several passages aloud with my family. I could not put it down and finished it in just two days. Now I want to get on the trail!
