really liked it
Recommended to Allanna by: Shannon Hale

I expected this to be rather like any other of the dragon books I've read before ... You know: child meets dragon, becomes friends, they fly around, maybe meet some people, blah, blah, blah ...

This is a little different. There's a little resemblance to Shannon Hale's "Goose Girl" books in the flavor.

A purpose-driven and capable heroine who deals with her problems in a very matter-of-fact way. Who accepts her responsibilities ... who knows how to use her talents.

I'd be very glad if my children read this book (well, when they're older. ^_^)

Shanna What age would you suggest letting your kids read this

Allanna When I wrote my review, my kids were just two years old. :p

I think that this would be fine for around age eight, as far as independent reading levels go. (My older daughter, who's THISCLOSE to eight, would probably be able to handle reading it.) I might do it as a read-aloud, since my son might like it, too. ^_^
