As with the previous books in this series, it takes me a while to get over my initial mixture of irritation and disbelief (is there some contempt mixed in there as well?)... Although as others have commented, she has toned down a bit, her lack of accountability (interestingly apropos here, actually) and the fact that she just rushes forward in foolishness drive me up the wall. At first I feared that as with the wedding venue in the previous book she would double-book ob-gyns, but that pitfall was avoided. I found myself caught up with the story again once Luke meets Venetia Carter and that part of the intrigue starts up. And then I was turning pages rapidly through to the end. The scene where she goes to confront Venetia at the hospital was very funny...
So on the one hand I've enjoyed these books and have had fun reading them, on the other I guess I'd have a lot more affinity with someone like Jess than Becky, so have issues with her rampant consumerism - which is, after all, the whole point of these books! I do like the way, almost in spite of herself, she has the occasional brilliant idea and manages to save the day.
