really liked it
bookshelves: academic, non-fiction, paperback, adult, historical, glbtqi
Recommended for: students of criminology
Read from October 19 to 21, 2010

I had originally purchased this book for use in a university paper, and I found it to be an enlightening and oddly enjoyable read. Walter does not really point fingers so much as point out how things are seen now, with personal anacedotes, stories she had picked up while researching, accompained with plain hard facts and figures.

While I do not recommend it as being the only reading, for anyone studying gender crimes it is a good place to start.
