Five point review: The Time Machine (novel, H.G. Wells, 1895)

[+] I was afraid a book well over a century old would be difficult to comprehend, but "The Time Machine" was quite an easy read.
[+] Although this is the first story ever written about time travel, the narrative is quite intriguing and original.
[+] It's not just action and excitement, the plot is also a metaphor for the social and political atmosphere of the late 1800s.
[+] The framing device (the majority of the book is written as a flashback) makes for an intriguing perspective
[-] Although the story is well written, there's not that much plot: the entire premise of the story can be summed up in one or two sentences.
