really liked it
bookshelves: history, history-of-science
Read in April, 2011

A history of the bit! From African drums, telegraphy (I remember trying to learn morse code in high school...), and cryptograms, to Claude Shannon, and onto qubits and wikipedia. It was spectacular, and filled with wonderful anecdotes, quotes, and references.
