This author is new to me but I really liked her writing. I happened upon this title through a Kindle recommendation and I'm glad I one-clicked.
I'm not going to get into the plot, however, it was pretty good.
Here's why I docked a star: although the story moved fluidly (for the most part), I felt like someone was trying to convince me that the characters were "straight gangsta". Don't get me wrong, they went in hard, but it wasn't realistic enough. For instance, how did Mia, who for all intents and purposes never even held a gun, become a master marksman? Headshots???!!! There was NO mention of target practice!! Sooooooooo... She's an idiot savant?!
Mia's character was a little OTT yet I really liked her. She came off cold-hearted and loving. Go figure. Carlo was hot and I enjoyed every minute of his POV, even if it didn't seem very Don-like. I think he didn't watch enough of the Godfather. Anyway, my favourite part of the book, aside from the killing and stuff, was when Mia and Carlo figured out that their attraction is mutual. Hi-lar-i-ous!
Enjoy! xo
